Scrappers ABC hosted their first Amateur Boxing Show on Sunday 23rd February 2019, which boasted 15 fights of 3 rounds.
The doors opened at 1pm, with tickets at £12.00 per adult and what a turn out!
The boxers were geared up and ready to rumble and as the clock struck 2pm, the fights kicked off.
Paul Rogers, Head Boxing Coach for Scrappers Gym and Scrappers ABC said:
“Well as the saying goes teamwork makes the dream work, this was the case on Sunday when Scrappers ABC held our first amateur boxing show.
Held at the gym, everybody rallied round to support the event. We have been gradually building a team of boxers since 2018.
So there are people we need to thank for their support, Vern Montgomery, founder & manager of 24hr Gym for help securing the gym space, as well as sponsorship which started us off, licences for England Boxing, boxing kit & track suits, which we are always very grateful for.
Vince Ayris, shoe repair, corporate gifts, engraving, trophies, key cutting, who has always supplied medals, trophies and engraving with a smile and banter.
Chris Baker, from Swindon Sports Forum helping us with funding for putting on the show.
Ben ‘Dolph’ Gristwood, Platinum Security for supplying door staff for the event.
Steve Butt, Your Sport Swindon for media coverage of the event.
Kevin Parry, Swindon Mayor for attending & supporting all of our events.
Also Nigel, Garri & Karen Funnel , drafted in last minute to cover takings and help others who were providing food & drinks, along with Amanda Rogers, Lenni Compton Dear, Karen Sheeran, there were so many who helped make the show a success.
